Calco not only manufactures masterbatches for the coloring of plastics but also their refinement with
functional additives is our specialty. Additive or polymer combinations from antiblock masterbatch to
UV stabilizers and many more form our constantly growing range, which is constantly oriented
towards market requirements. A dditives can also be combined with c olor in a masterbatch.
UV Stabilizer .
Calco offer state of the art solutions to provide superior UV protection by giving unique formulations to suit the requirements of our customers according to the application and climatic conditions of a particular location. Our vast range of UV Stabilizers and Absorbers can protect polymers and plastic end-products from UV rays, preventing its degradation in outdoor exposure.
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is harmful to polymer properties, as when finished plastic parts exposed to direct or indirect sunlight can display surface chalking as the polymer becomes oxidized, and can lose physical properties and become brittle to the point of no longer being fit for original use. UV light also accelerates the fading of plastic colorants.
UV masterbatches are based on hindered amine light stabilizer, which is properly dispersed in a poly-olefin carrier. These masterbatches are superior in quality and increase the working life of molded and extruded product, when exposed to sunlight. UV masterbatch has three grades: UV-10, UV-20 is recommended for PP application and food grade application.

Slip Masterbatch .
Slip masterbatches are based on amide additives which migrate to the surface of the extruded/moulded plastic product and offer a mono molecular layer.
It prevent blocking of adjacent Polyolefin film surfaces to each other when brought into contact together during manufacturing such as blown film production.
It reduces the co-efficient of friction of the polyolefin film surface very smoothly. It ensures superior handling properties in automotive packaging application and also doesn’t affect the sealing and printing properties. These are mainly used in mono / multilayer films etc.
Polyolefin films tend to adhere to themselves (film-to-film) and metal surfaces (film-to-metal) due to their high coefficient of friction (COF). For easy processing, polyolefin films need around 0.2 COF.
Slip agent masterbatches are able to modify the surface properties of a film and thus lower the friction between film layers and other surfaces. To be effective the slip needs to migrate out of the polymer to the surface and therefore it must have a degree of incompatibility with the polymer.
Advantages
– It makes processing more efficient with higher productivity and improved quality.
– In polyolefin film production, it facilitates increased line speed in manufacturing process and enhances packaging machine operation due to reduced COF.
– Ensures good handling properties in automatic packaging machines.
Application
– Slip Additive Masterbatch is recommended for the use as demoulding agents in injection moulding application.
Advantages
– Optimized production process and performance
– Very narrow particle size distribution compared to others on the market
– Suitable for use in extremely challenging applications
Application
– Agriculture Films – Mulch films, Greenhouse films, Shade and Mesh Net, Tarpaulin, Non-woven for Agriculture.

Anti Block Masterbatch.
Antiblock masterbatches counter acts the tendency of extruded films in sticking together and helps in improving the opening characteristics of films/bags. Its applications include mono / multilayer blown film for flexible packaging.
Calco’s Anti Block masterbatch reduces friction on the plastic surface and makes it possible for the plastics to separate easily. As plastic layers cool during production, it is important to make sure the product does not stick together. This can be done during the pr oduction process and can also be used to help consumers divide the plastic items.
addition of an antiblocking agent creates space between two plastic layers (surface roughness) thus preventing blocking.
Antiblock has been applied successfully in making plastic bagging products, but has the potential to do much more. Antiblocking is most commonly found in the production of polyethylene and polypropylene films (either blown or cast). During film rolling, air bubbles can be trapped between successive layers which can cause small localized flaws that grow as the layers pile up. The film rolls that are manufactured are no longer cylindrical, and the film is not perfectly flat when it is unrolled.
Antistatic Masterbatch .
Antistatic Masterbatch is used to reduce the electrical resistance on the surface of films and molded products. It also gives uniform cell size distribution in expanded polyethylene (EPE) foams.
It offers electrical properties spanning the surface resistivity spectrum from 1010 to 1013 ohm/sq and sustains for a long period. Its applications include packing in medicine, electronics. It can also be used in extrusion process to avoid static charge.
Calco Antistatic Masterbatch is a surface property modifier, which now-a-days finds extensive use by Plastics Processor, to reduce and control the static charges developed on the surface of plastic parts having large surfaces like film, fibres etc as spark discharge formed by static charges can produce serious accidents. Plastics, particularly sensitive to static build up Polyolefins, Nylon, Polyesters, Urethanes, Cellulosics, Acrylics etc.

Polyisobutylene Additive (PIB) Masterbatch .
Polyisobutylene Additive masterbatch is a based on a special blend of Polyisobutylene with base polyethylene, elastomeric olefins and active additives.
The composition is used as a adhesion promoter (cling agent) to produce stretch wrap films from LLDPE or LDPE, the high molecular weight Polyisobutylene content in the base polyethylene and matrix achieves the excellent stickiness property in the dry granules, it is dry free flow granules.
Polyisobutylene Additive masterbatch is available in the granule form which is very easy to handle as against the direct dosing of Polyisobutylene liquid which is very difficult & tedious to handle due to high viscosity.
Calco’s Polyisobutylene Additive masterbatch distributes very uniformly over the entire film imparting the strength & tackiness properties to the film with self adhesive properties. And this property of the film helps to wrap the packages together with proper grip.
Polyisobutylene Additive masterbatch is designed to produce stretch wrap films from LLDPE, LDPE or any other Nonslip Polyolefin’s for the applications of Pallet wrap and Silage wrap.
It can be used on either blown film line or cast film process. Polymers used with Polyisobutylene Additive must not contain any Anti blocking additive or slip agent as this will prevent the migration of cling additive on the films. Migration time for the good cling properties is usually 24 to 72 hours.
